The Polo Public Library District offers value to people of all ages. Our success in serving you can, in part, be attributed to your contributions. There are several ways people can go above and beyond that help improve our library:
Monetary donations are always welcomed to supplement the Library’s budget. Your donation is an investment in the District which will be used to enhance the Library’s collections and services. Financial donations may be made directly to the Polo Public Library District. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Donations of used books and media (DVDs, CDs, and Audio-Books) in good condition are a valuable resource for the Library. Donated materials are sorted and evaluated by staff to determine the eventual status of your gift. Some materials are processed and cataloged for circulation. Books and media not selected for inclusion in the collection may be sold on Amazon, placed in the Annual Book Sale or donated to Goodwill or Salvation Army. Money collected from selling materials helps to support Library Programs. Donations are accepted during Library hours. Tax receipts are available upon request.
Memorial and honorarium books are ways to remember someone special. These books may be in memory of a deceased loved one, or they may celebrate a special event such as the birth of a child, a birthday, or an anniversary. Your donation is used to purchase a book or collection of books or media that then becomes a part of the Library’s collection. The book will bear a specialized bookplate memorializing or honoring the person you choose.
Volunteering your time is another way you can support the Library. Volunteer hours add value to your library through tasks designed to assist staff and maintain collections. Short term volunteers may assist with the management of the Annual Book Sale. Regular volunteers commit weekly to various projects under the direction of library staff. Other volunteer opportunities are designed for teens to fulfill community service hours for their school and church organizations. To enquire about current volunteer opportunities at the library, fill out the Volunteer Application and bring it to the library. You will be contacted by library staff about current volunteer opportunities.
