Andrew Carnegie, Millionaire Philanthropist: 1835-1919, stated: “Surplus wealth is a sacred trust which its possessor is bound to administer in his lifetime for the good of the community.” And that was a motto he lived by giving generously to many Carnegie libraries around this great nation. In 1871, Andrew Carnegie gave the citizens of our area a donation that helped build the Polo Carnegie Library building. For many years, persons with ties to Polo have lived by the same motto; giving generously to the Polo Public Library as a celebration of their abundant lives.

In 2004, the Polo Public Library Foundation was established as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Its purpose for donors is to enable tax-free monetary gifts that support the Polo Public Library. Its purpose for the Library is to establish a fund for future capital improvement and maintenance work, as well as to provide broader educational and recreational opportunities.

There are many ways to give to the Polo Public Library Foundation:

  • Cash donations
  • Securities
  • Polo Public Library Foundation as a beneficiary to life insurance policies
  • Personal property or include Polo Public Library Foundation in your estate plans
