Andrew Carnegie, Millionaire Philanthropist: 1835-1919, stated:
“Surplus wealth is a sacred trust which its possessor is bound to administer in his lifetime for the good of the community.”
And that was a motto he lived by giving generously to many Carnegie libraries around this great nation. In 1871, Andrew Carnegie gave the citizens of our area a donation that helped build the Polo Carnegie library building. For many years persons with ties to Polo have lived by the same motto; giving generously to the Polo Public Library as a celebration of their abundant lives.
In 2004, the Polo Public Library Foundation was established as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Its purpose for donors is to enable tax-free monetary gifts that support the Polo Public Library. Its purpose for the Library is to establish a fund for future capital improvement and maintenance work, as well as to provide broader educational and recreational opportunities.
There are many ways to give to the Polo Public Library Foundation. In addition to cash donations you may give securities, designate the Polo Public Library Foundation as a beneficiary to life insurance policies, donate personal property or include Polo Public Library Foundation in your estate plans.
